Charlottenborg chair, Model AJ 237
Designed by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen, the Charlottenborg lounge chair (originally designated Model AJ 237) is a landmark design of the Scandinavian functionalist era. Named after the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition in Copenhagen where it debuted in 1937, the chair features fluid, sweeping parallel curves crafted from rattan and cane - materials Jacobsen favored to achieve lightweight, modern furniture. It was a personal favorite of Jacobsen's, who used it to furnish his own famous summer residence, Knarken, in 1938.
